Wet N Hot

I have been planning a major trip since the beginning of this year.  As things were looking so much better in the spring, I made the decision to go to Wet N Hot—the world’s biggest piss party—in Palm Springs.  It has always been in July—when historically, I’ve been at my busiest.  They had pushed it back to September to make sure Covid would not be an issue.  I had friends there—friends who had asked me repeatedly to come to PS—where I could stay and go with them to the event.  So this year I finally said ‘yes.’

This morning a letter arrived that with the spike of cases, even in heavily vaccinated Palm Springs, the event was cancelled.  How do you have huge groups of men drink piss or piss fuck socially distanced?  I am not happy—even if I recognize it is likely the right thing to do.  Damn the fuckin’ Delta variant…

On a happier note, I am still going to California.  I have never been to Palm Springs.  I am sure I will be playing—just playing in much smaller groups.  Not a bad thing at all.  I will catch up with men I haven’t seen in three to five years—men who have figured in the blog repeatedly.

Of course, with it being three weeks away—who knows what will happen in the meantime?  I will cross my proverbial fingers and see…

  1. You be careful, dear. Florida is not somewhere I would want to be. And it's not the Delta variant that's the cause of this... It's stubborn unvax'd people. Had we presented a united front, this thing would not have gotten as out of hand as it is. We are absolutely on our way back to the beginning. Anyone I know - and these are vax'd folks - who travel on an airplane? They're covid positive within days. We're not being smart about this... again. Be very careful. Kizzes.

    1. And I wouldn't go to Florida, either. Palm Springs is California desert--and a retired gay population that owe their lives to believing in science. They have a very high vaccination rate. Not perfect by any means, but better in my book.

Three weeks away---and anything can happen. It may all be moot.
